In an effort to fight fraud, money laundering and terrorist financing, we comply with sanctions put in place by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), an agency of the U.S. Department of the Treasury that administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions based on U.S. foreign policy and national security goals. We continue to review guidance provided to us by OFAC, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and other reputable industry and internal sources regarding sanctioned and prohibited countries. FATF is the global, standard-setting body for anti-money laundering and combating terrorism.

Some countries have such a high number of hackers or are known to be hostile to the United States or are embargoed (China, North Korea, Iran, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Ukraine etc.) that various security protocols require that they be blocked in order to maintain our ecommerce security standings.  The majority of the countries blocked 100% of the time are required and/or highly recommended by different security organizations.

This sample country codes list may include but, are not limited to ones with the following country codes.  Some are permanently blocked whereas others may be temporary.  The length of time a temporary block lasts varies from as little as 20 minutes to as long as many months depending on the reason.
